Let's take a peek into our world
To all of my parents and students as we wind down the semester and this week I just want to wish everyone a safe and happy holidays. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, or Hanukkah during this time of year it is truly about celebrating the precious time spent with family and friends. Also, while you are out shopping for those gifts please remember to keep in mind those families who may not have much or anything at all during this time of year. Find a way to give back and to remember the true reason for this season. Please read my letter below regarding a class project that I have been doing for the past 14 years. Class Holiday Project The 12 Days of Caring The Children’s Restoration Project Dear Parents & Students, Every year I like to encourage my class family to give back to their communities in some way. This time of year can be very difficult for many families across the United States and most especially here in the Atlanta-Metro area. I would like my students to embrace the true spirit of the season. It is important to me that we teach the lessons of helping others who have much less than we do. It has been my distinct privilege to be involved with CRN (Children’s Restoration Network of Atlanta) located in Roswell, GA for the past 14 years. Each year this group collects toys for approximately 2,000 homeless or displaced children throughout the Atlanta area. Therefore, I am asking that my students in all of my classes join me in donating a new unwrapped toy, board game, or stuffed animal for a child who is living in a shelter here in the metro Atlanta area. I will deliver the donated gifts to the local offices on our behalf. Please bring all unwrapped gifts to school by Thursday, December 17, 2015. Again, thank you for helping to make this holiday season special for some boy or girl here in the Atlanta area. Sincerely, Ms. Luciann Barry EIP Teacher New Prospect Elementary On that note...
