Extra,extra read all about it!
Let's take a peek into our world
This week across ALL of my math and reading classes we are busy assessing students understanding of specific standards. Some students are solving two step addition and subtraction problems with three to four two digits numbers. Then, others are navigating the paths of simplifying fractions or adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators. While, for my reading students my fourth graders are explaining what an allusion is and applying it to real life scenarios. As this shortened week comes to a end on Thursday, Feb. 11th we know that all the students' minds will be consumed with Valentines' Day and all of the sweet goodies that they will indulge in throughout the day. But I want to list a few reasons why I love to teach:
1. The bright eyes of a student when they finally make the connection. 2. Molding the minds of students to achieve in the most difficult of circumstances. 3. Student's laughter it always brings me joy. 4. The beginning of the school year when everything is new and exciting. 5. A heated in-depth class discussion when the thoughts of each student is clicking in unison. 6. A student accomplishing an academic feat and knowing it, and we get to celebrate together. 7. The smiles, hugs, and hi-fives of my students. 8. When old students come back to see you and say THANK YOU! 9. When I hear a students read. 10. When I see students grow in leaps and bounds and know that I had a little something to do with their progress. I could list so many ways that continuously draws me to this profession that I love so much, but .Until next week when you take a look into our world!
